The library renovation is complete, and the library is open again during regular hours. Come in and check us out!
A new circulation desk and workroom have been expanded. Friends of the Library spaces have been doubled - watch for a future used book store there! Public spaces housing audiovisual materials and new books have been reconfigured so that popular new items are shelved separately near the front entrance for patron convenience. A second express checkout machine is available, thanks to the Friends of the Library. Two new catalog computers are available near the entrance and others are scattered throughout the building in convenient locations.
The remodel project was funded by a $60,000 challenge grant from the Coos Bay Downtown Urban Renewal Agency, matched by the Coos Bay Public Library Foundation and Friends of the Library. Your donations to the Foundation made the project possible along with grants from The Oregon Community Foundation and Trust Management Services, LLC. Your book sale purchases enabled the Friends to help provide matching dollars.
Project architect was Richard P. Turi of North Bend and contractor was Harmon Construction Company of Coos Bay.
