FOREIGN FILM FRIDAYS
Second Friday of each month, screen time 7:00 p.m.
Refreshments served.
Subtitled for English-speaking audiences.

Some of these films have not been rated and may be aimed at a mature audience. Parental discretion is advised.

May 16th - Adam's Apples (Denmark, 2005)

Adam, a middle-aged neo-Nazi, is sent on community service to a vicarage. Asked to set a goal for his stay, Adam sarcastically answers that he'd like to bake a cake. Ivan cheerfully takes that statement at face value and puts him in charge of the parish's pride and joy: the only apple tree in the vicinity. Meanwhile birds, worms and lightning attack the apples. Ivan believes is the Devil testing them. Adam believes it is God, because perhaps evil doesn't exit at all. Award-winning dark comedy at its finest.

June 13th - Osama (Afghanistan, 2003)

A 12-year-old girl and her mother lose their jobs when the Taliban closes the hospital where they work. The Taliban have forbidden women to leave their houses without a male "legal companion." With her husband and brother dead, there is no one left to support the family. Desperate, the mother disguises her daughter as a boy. Now called 'Osama,' the girl embarks on a terrifying and confusing journey as she tries to keep the Taliban from finding out her true identity. Inspired by a true story.

All films are FREE and
