CHECK OUT PERIODS and
RENEWING MATERIALS Most Coos Bay Library material checks out for 21 days (3 weeks), except videos and DVDs which check out for three days. Most material may be renewed twice, except for videos, DVDs and music CDs which may be renewed once. (No item can be renewed once another patron has placed a request for it.) You can renew in person or by telephone at any public library in Coos County and at the library of Southwestern Oregon Community College. You may also renew items online if you access your account and set up a PIN. |
| HOW TO APPLY FOR A LIBRARY CARD
Complete an application (available at the check out desk) and present one piece of picture ID and something with your current local address, such as an Oregon driver's license, printed checks, or utility bill. Your card may be used at any public library in Coos County as well as at the library of Southwestern Oregon Community College. |

The Friends of the Coos Bay Public Library is a very active organization that was formed in 1976. The Friends' Statement of Purpose is: The Friends group sponsors all of the library's youth programs throughout the year, they support most library programs for adults, supplements the library budget with purchase of books and equipment, and provides broad support to the library and its activities.To create an awareness of the library and its functions, promote knowledge of its needs, develop public support for increased library service and foster a public relations program. The Friends group holds nine used book sales during the year as their
major fundraising effort for the library. To join the Friends, pick
up a membership form at the library or print the form, fill it in and drop off at the library.
The Friends of the Coos Bay Public Library hosts book sales the first weekend of the month. Members only opening at 9:00 a.m. Saturday. 2008 May 10 & 11 |
